CCGS to Meet

The Cass County Genealogical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church, located on Second Street in Queen City, Texas.
Traci Jones, a member of CCGS, will speak about her Skinner Family.  The Skinners came from England in the 1600′s to American, to their final destination in Texarkana, Arkansas in the 1870′s.  Her Skinners fought in the American Revolution.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Atlanta Public Library will have the Annual Book Sale April 3-5 at the old fire station (300 block of East Hiram across from Terrell Brothers Furniture) .  April 3rd from 8-2 is for Friends Members only (Memberships are $5.00 and will be available at the door.)   Open to the Public:  April 3 from 2-6, and April 4 & 5 from 10-6.  This is the major fundraiser for the Friends.  Please help  build interest in the book sale.

Construction Update Hwy 59 at FM 2148

Construction on the new left-turn lanes on US 59 at FM 2148 will cause a change in traffic patterns beginning Friday, March 21.  Northbound traffic on US 59 will be moved into the current turn lane and left-turns directly onto FM 2148 will be blocked.  Read the rest of this entry »
