Omaha Man Charged With Hughes Springs Burglary

From East Texas Radio News

Upshur County authorities arrested Russel Wayne Gilmore, 40, of Omaha, as the suspect in connection with a laundromat burglary in Hughes Springs that turned into arson in December of 2021.

Chief Randy Kennedy reports that Gilmore is in the Upshur County Jail on charges of burglary of a building in Bowie County, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information of fewer than five items. There is no bond amount set for the Bowie County charge, and Gilmoreā€™s total bond amount for the other two is $100,000.

Gilmore is one of two suspects in the case. According to a previous East Texas News story, Gilmore and another person tried to break into the office at The Wash-Tub Laundromat at about 3:00 am. One of the suspects looked like he was there doing laundry.
