Obit Jimmy Abla

Jimmie (Jim) Wayne Abla, 79, of Atlanta, TX passed away on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 at his home after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Minabeth (Beth) Abla. He was born in DeRidder, LA to John and Nellie Abla on August 28th 1942.
Jim graduated from Tyler High School where he participated in baseball, boxing, and football. Jim attended Bethany Nazarene College, where he met and fell in love with Beth who he eventually married in 1962. In 1960 he enlisted in the US Army and advanced to Major, serving in the Delta Force during the Vietnam War. During his 22 year military career he also finished a Bachelor’s of Science through Troy State University and went on to earn a Master’s Degree from the University of Tampa in Guidance and Counseling.
Jim enjoyed collecting antique cars and precious stones and listening to country western music. He was a die-hard Cowboy’s football fan.
Jim is survived by his sons Lance Abla and Sean Abla. He is predeceased by his parents; and sister, Karen (née Abla) Foreman.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, February 28, 2022 in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Trina Abla officiating.
